I'm reminded of what a disappointment Lord of the Rings Conquest was. I think it's a shame because this genre- of online competitive swords'n sandals warfare has a lot of potential. For Honor speaks mostly to fighting game fans, and even though Bannerlord looks awesome, it's still very much going to be an indie title.
Paradox shut down War of the Roses a long time ago.įrankly, the genre is not where it needs to be. I'd like to see the full force of a studio like Dice making a Battlefield game over the 100 year war. The genre still have a lot of room to grow. It won't have all the RPG elements of MnB.īut Kingdom Come: Deliverance will have those RPG elements. It also looks promising, but will be more of a mix between Chivalry and Jedi Knight.
We got For Honor, and Chivalry had a nice stint for a while.Īnother game people need to check out is Mordhau. Medieval sword fighting is stronger than it was (in huge part due to Mount and Blade). Activity on the page sort of lets the dev know that people are anticipating it. If you guys are not already, Wishlist and check out Bannerlord steam page. Where For Honor is smaller battles, more streamlined with fewer players, Mount and Blade is taking your horse up ladders and being fucking metal in metal armor throwing yourself into metal dudes on metal horses, while listening to metal.
Looking at the community surrounding Mount & Blade, it’s kind if incredible how much it has inspired simulation gamers, modders, and historians.What is there to say? Mount and Blade and Warband are very symbols of the chaotic and wonderful awesome nature of PC gaming. It’s essentially a medieval commander simulator that manages to depict medieval battles with a scale and level of detail quite unlike any other game. That’s what I can gather after finally trying it out a bit.Īctually, what strikes me about Mount & Blade is how much it resembles certain other sandbox and simulation games while remaining as unique as it is. PC Gamers have gotten uniquely crazy over this game, and maybe it’s because its predecessor - Mount & Blade Warband remains a pretty unique game itself. Developer TaleWorlds Entertainment announced it in 2012 and only recently gave us an Early Access release date for March 2020. For years I’ve seen some pretty strong emotions flare up on forums and other online communities ranging the gamut between big hype and utter despair over the development of the game. For a while now it’s looked like the most anticipated game in PC gaming is Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord.
